Mountain of the Mont:
The called "Door of the Pirineo" is a mountain of 1.150m height, that is seeable from very removed points and it is easily recognizable. The best known part is the one which is above Maiá of Montcal, Beuda, Lladó,... with a magnificent panoramic from the half of the path to ascend, that takes approximately 30 minutes from Hostal d'en Vilà. The northern part, surrounded by higher summits, it is accessible from the village of Sant Llorenç de la Muga, by difficult and long forest tracks..
Curiosity:
The main road has asphalt from 1996. First it was a path, after a forest track until the years 40, when the Bishopric of Girona proposed to the relevant Ministry the construction of a road. Specialized workers, together with many men and youths of the zone, had the entrustement to explode the large rock blocks that hindered enormously the construction projects of the highway.
