RUTA Besalú
The round tour can begin in any point. We'll begin it in the right side of the river Fluviá (beside the recommended parking), that way you'll get into the interior of the town through the MEDIEVAL BRIDGE.
After the bridge, the houses at right and at left belong to the zone where the Jewish quarter (Call) was located. The same street that begins on the bridge goes until the Main Square. Midway, at left, there is a well indicated alley that leads to the Square of the Jews, where the staircases at left lead to the MIQWÉ. Continuing to the Main Square: Town hall, Tourism Office and ROYAL CURIA. In front of the Royal Curia, a close alley leads until the walls of the river Fluviá. With the wall always at right, you'll pass in front of the main facade of the HOSPITAL OF ST.JULIA, located very close to the apse of the SAINT PETER'S CHURCH. Bordering the apse, there is the main facade of the lordly House Monjos, located in the Meadow of Saint Peter (Prat de Sant Pere). In the square it can also be appreciated the facade of the ancient House Cornellá, currently House LLAUDES, with a restaurant of the same name, located in the ancient chapel.
The Ganiganell street, that begins in the Prat de St.Pere, leads us almost until the main facade of the parish of St.Vicenç located at the right side of the street. The apse of the parish is located in the Main Street. At left, the last house before arriving to the C-150 (on the other side of the road there is the Inn Siqués) is the Abat Zafont House, of original construction. Going down the Main Street, at left, there is CA L'ENRIC a well known pastry shop, and at right, the ancient HOUSE CAMBÓ, currently social center.
Another time in the main square, at left, there is the Tallaferro street that ends in the ancient House of the Mint and the Jewish quarter. And at right, there is an alley, that leads to the medieval bridge, typical from the Jewish quarter.
